Captains Commanding,

It appears that so far about forty (40) people will be gathering at Unk's Tavern on Saturday next! For a good time and to have all your comments/suggestions heard and contemplated, please show up. It promises to be a GOOD time!

Captains Commanding,

Ya gotta see this! Rumor has it that there will be a Boatswains Mate there to honor the Officers after the election. All will be rigged out in the uniform of the day!!!???? Don't miss this final opportunity to voice your opinion. The fleet needs your input! What should be done at sea this summer? That is THE question and it BEGS an answer.

I will be honored to meet all of you........I remain.....your most HUMBLE.......servant.........

Summer Rendezvous/Race

Post by Duncan Maio »

Alas, I am again unable to attend, but I have a suggestion for a summer gathering.

Fort Adams, in Newport, RI is beginning a major renovation this spring, and will be open for tours this summer. The Ft. Adams Trust controls two useable piers adjacent to the fort, and there is ample anchorage in the harbor. They have been hosting corporate events for a couple of years now, and would welcome a cruising group any time but the Jazz/Folk Festivals (early August).

Although the fort has never fired a shot in anger, one cannon round might be arranged as the last boat in the race enters the harbor. . .

Captain Maio
Commanding s/v Remedey,

Received your last this instant, and must say you might have brailed up with this suggestion. As the tide turns, an outgoing tide will drive the fleet towards Newport, and vice versa, if I read Captain Eldridge correctly. It would be a much LONGER race, and we may have a few vessels lost during that time, but I am sure they would get there eventually. I mean Sir, WHAT'S the hurry? After all, you are aboard a Cape Dory! !

Are ya sure Sir? Have ya checked your orders from the admirality? Maybe you could join us for a day, a night, a drink, anything true seagoing sailors get involved in? (Well, maybe we shouold forget the doxies in the bum boats, after all, this captain DID get married last year!)

Would look forward to meetin' up with ya Captain Maio, I remain.....your most HUMBLE servant..........

Hey, drive down from Bristol and meet all of us sailors at Unk's Tavern on Saturday. Drive to Niantic, CT and ask for directions.....

Captains Commanding and loyal Mates,

This will surely be a great time for all; however, the participation is limited to NE Fleet / CDSOA Members.
