I sent an old Perry Nut core off to BoatZincsDirect to see if they would be interested in providing a similar product. And they seem to be. They probably won’t have one ready for this season, however – but at least they’re interested. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt if those of us who have used Perry Nuts (the CD OEM shaft zinc) in the past contact Martin Wigg and express your interest. My core was a #10 ¾” .

Perry Nuts revived?

Re: Perry Nuts revived?
I am assuming that the #10 3/4" core is for the smaller boats as I think the shaft on the 36 is 1".
Is it possible that the zinc is the same for all cores?
I'd be interested if only to see the difference over a season or so. I'll contact them.

Re: Perry Nuts revived?
Yes, Ken, the size core I sent was for the 25D. I don't know how many Perry Nuts of other sizes suppliers may have in stock, but I do know the 25D size is no longer available. As you know, the PerryNut zinc and brass core are one piece -- nice because the zinc never gets lost or loses its bond with the shaft -- but the whole thing has to be replaced when the zinc is shot. I'm trying to help BoatZincsDirect to design and sell a similar, one-piece product.

A better link
The link I gave previously is Martin Wigg's E-mail address and takes you to the parent company -- try the one below to get directly to BoatZincsDirect.
Re: Perry Nuts revived?
Ken,
The Perry Nut for a 1" shaft is not 1". I am not sure of the exact size, but it is smaller than the shaft size as it(the shaft) is tapered. I believe it may very well be the 3/4 but I would have to check.

Re: Perry Nuts revived?
Good idea Don. Kudos for finding someone interested. I hope they are careful about patents on the Perry design. You might contact perry Boatworks and ask them if they would sell the patent rights. I know they are not interested in producing them anymore based on my contact with them in the past.
