Pleasant Experience with West Marine
Hello to All;
I recently had a nice experience with the West Marine "Advantage Program" that I'd like to pass along...I wanted to purchase an item before Christmas, using some "$10 Refund Checks" from the aformentioned program. Several had already expired, but after talking with the West Marine Advantage rep., she reviewed my account and said
"you have quite a few refund checks in your account"...she stated that she could only authorize those for 2001, which was still going to save me about $40 towards the purchase. This was done, and I walked out a happy man. Last week, in the mail, I received 5 more "refund checks", re-authorized for 2002 !!! Pretty good technique, IMHO, for promoting business...hope your local store treats you similarly.

Re: Pleasant Experience with West Marine
I was told by a nice employee at West Marine that if I filled out a form I would get a $10.00 coupon for every 250.00 or something. It would come in the mail. I give the folks there my phone # with every purchase and I am deserving of several coupons by now. However as of yet, no mail with or without coupons. I think I will ask them what they are doing with my info when I give it to them. If when the time comes they treat me as well I will be happy, but so far it doesn't seem to work for me.

Aint Life Funny?
Last night before going to bed I responded about not getting any mail from West Marine. Well, this morning my wife; who handles the mail, handed me a ten dollar coupon from West Marine. They are a little slow I think, but they are doing what they said, which always makes me happier. Will

Re: Pleasant Experience with West Marine
I wouldn't swear to it, but I think West mails out its rebate coupons every quarter. I like getting them, but I always wince when I realize that I've spent another bundle of money on the boat.

Mario,
I feel the same way. It hits me that I have spent another boat buck or two on the boat. However, I always save them and find I am back in the store not long after.
If they were only closer to the boat......

Re: Pleasant Experience with West Marine
To all,
As an ex-employee of West Marine, let me give you a tip on those advantage points....you can still claim those "$10 certificates" without the actual paper coupons in hand. Just ask the cashier to call the rewards center (it's a 1-800 #) and give them your rewards number. They can do it all over the phone. I had couple that came in the store all the time and since they were cruising and received their mail back home, they claimed all their "points" at the store over the phone instead of waiting for the coupons which can take a while to get.
For what it's worth...
