i have purchased a "new' boat which has been stored at a yard in Rowayton, CT. The over the road trucker picked the boat up recently to bring it to my house. Because the boat was in such a position that a travel lift needed to pick it up and move it a few feet and put the mast on top of the cabin, I received a bill for $500. The trucker says he was there less than two hours. The per foot fee for the lift was $14.50. That seems a bit high--like triple the fee for the most expensive facility here in Maine. Anyone out there have any figures for similar yards in that area of CT?
Thanks

Re: travel lift rates
The rate for mast removal in this area is in the neighborhood of $10.00 per foot. If they had to take the mast down, that seems about right. If they were already paid for removing the mast, then it sounds a little high. Getting anything done is this area is very expensive! We don't mind paying the price, but we hope to get quality service. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case!
Good luck with the new boat. What is it? Why not stay here and join us in LI Sound?
