I am the owner of CD27, Hull #150. My friend, who has a different saiboat, has a blue awgripped hull. He cleaned his teak this summer, then forgot to rinse all the cleaner off. The cleaner dried and streaked his blue awlgrip. It now has lighter streaks in a number of places on the hull. We tried rubbing compound, wet sanded with 600 grit paper, but we have had no luck in getting these streaks out. I told him I'd ask the folks on the CD board (the most knowledgeable gang around!)if they had any sugestions. Does anybody know of any way to get these streaks out, or is the streaking permanent? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

Teak Cleaner Streaking Blue Awlgrip

Re: Teak Cleaner Streaking Blue Awlgrip
Hi Joe
I have not had this problem. But I do have a bottle of Teak Cleaner & brightener sitting on my desk here. The first paragragh reads.
INTENDED FOR TEAKWOOD SURFACES ONLY! Product may damage gelcoat, paint and metal surfaces. Keep all surrounding surfaces wet and immediatly rince if accidental contact with other surfaces occurs.
later on it says that it contains phosphoric acid. I suspect that your friend does not have streaks ON his paint. I think the streaks are IN the paint now. So probably only painting will fix the problem. I hope there is an easier solution and if there is I know someone here will know what it is.

Re: Teak Cleaner Streaking Blue Awlgrip
Repaint..........had it been Imron you may have been able to buff the color and finish back but not with Awlgrip. He can try and spray/blend fresh paint over the areas but the Awlgrip will never match up, especially blue. You MUST keep all surrounding areas wet at all times when working with teak cleaners.
