stove black

A couple of weeks ago there was talk about Rutland's Stove and Grill cleaner for use on the prop to prevent barnacles from adhering. I thought all should know that it is available at your local Ace hardware store for $3.45. I bought some and I'll report on it's success or lack of same next winter.

Captain Axler,

Thank you for the information. It would be a great help, if when you report back, you would tell us your port of hail. Remember, when you put the stove black on the prop, clean it first(I use "On & Off" hull cleaner) and then lather on the stove black a couple times or until you get tired. It will not blacken the prop, you will be able to see through it, but, it does seem to work(at least in the Mystic Connecticut area). Wear rubber gloves, the stuff WILL blacken you! The polish you bought is liquid, isn't it?

Best of the holidays to you and your crew........I remain.......your most HUMBLE servant.........

The polish was liquid and I am berthed in Rock Hall, MD,but I frequent your lovely shores every summer on my annual migration from those steamy Chesapeake summer days to the Vineyard's cool breezes.

Thank you for the instruction and I wish you and your's a happy and healthy New Year.
