I am the new owner of a 77, CD30, located in the northwest. Sence the monsoons have set in, I find that the hause hole in my bowsprit is letting in alot of water even with the origional hole cap in place. I am seeking information on possibe cures and bronze hawse cover models that will provide a permanent solution.

Re: hawse hole cover
I force a tennis ball down in mine. Doesn't stop it, but slows it down a little. You can also turn a plastic bucket upside down over it if you're not sailing. I get water in the bilge via the mast. Blows past the sheaves in the mast cap runs down inside the mast and out the weep hole into the bilge. Also take some in through the engine breather vents on the aft deck. In a real rain you're supposed to take the rubber vents out and cap them, but who does? Your wife's shower cap with an elastic around the bottom will also snap over the hawse hole.
