The subject about says it all. I have the prospect of my first 24-hour sail on my 36, and am looking for some (mechanical) help at the wheel. I would value any reports of success or otherwise on windvanes on the 36. I've seen discussions on Monitor/Aries on the 33 and smaller here, but one never knows how well that experience would scale up.

Any experience with windvanes for CD36?

Re: Any experience with windvanes for CD36?
Larry,
The Monitor Windvane is built for boats up to 50 - 60 ft. They use them on the Whitbread race so I think it would be adequate for the CD 36. I installed my own on my CD 33 and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Cheers.

I have a monitor on my CD 31 and wouldn't consider going to sea without it. It worked well in 60 knot winds with 40 foot + seas breaking at the top. We buddy boated with a Panda 38 which also had one and it performed well for them also. I think it would be fine for a CD 36.Derek Hillen wrote: Larry,
