Good news for anyone who wants a NEW 25, 26 or 270
Triangle Marine Engineering, Ltd. of North Kingstown, RI is now in possession of the molds for the Cape Dory 25, 26 and 270. They cannot use the Cape Dory name so the new boats will be called the Hadley 25, 26 and 27 (named after beautiful Hadley Harbor, MA). If you'd like additional information, they can be contacted at:

Re: Good news for anyone who wants a NEW 25, 26 or 270
I wonder what ever happened to the 25D molds? I read they were acquired by Octavia Marine but never heard of any being produce. Hopefully the molds haven't been destroyed or lie wasting away in some field.

Mike,
If I read the communication from Triangle Marine Engineering correctly, they acquired the molds for the CD25, 26 and 270 from Octavia. I'm not sure if the mold from the 25 is for the 25D or not. I'll find out.

I noticed CD270,am I correct in assuming this does not include a standard CD27Catherine Monaghan wrote: Triangle Marine Engineering, Ltd. of North Kingstown, RI is now in possession of the molds for the Cape Dory 25, 26 and 270. Catherine, this is great news! I believe they must have the 25D, 26 and 270, (not the 25 or the 27 as we have the 25 and the 27Alberg was inadvertantly destroyed) I hope they are very successful. Should help re-sale values, too!

Just Curious
You said we have the mold for the CD25 Stadel designed hull. Who is we? Also what happened to the mold for the 27? Like I said, just curious.

I think Robinhood has that mold also....Dave Perry and I talked recently about the possibility of a new Robinhood 30...sounds attractive, as Robinhood does beautiful work...but unfortunately, big, big, bucks as might be expected....folks with nice CD30s...hang on to them and treat them nice....John R. wrote: Who has the CD30 (traditional) mold?

Sad to hear about the demise of the Alberg 27 mold...does that make the CD27 more or less valuable in your estimation?

Re: NEW CD-30C ! ! ! Just curious ! ! !
Captain Stalker,
Just curious, what is RobinHood M. asking for a new 30 cutter? Hey, for next years contest at sea I'm already looking at a whole new suit of sails - why not a new vessel to hang 'em on! This IS going to drive the competition NUTS ! ! !

It was around $150,000 I believe....I'm sure that doesn't include a lot of stuff like sails and electronics....This does not surprise me as a couple of years ago, while searching for a used Shannon 28, I called Walt Shultz at Shannon Yachts and asked if he could still build a Shannon 28. He said he could, but price would be around $175,000! Kinda scary, but he explained that most of the cost of building boats these days is labor, so the difference between a 28 and 38 (they still build these) is not as much as you might think. Tom Morris at Morris Yachts told me the same thing about his Linda 28...$165,000+. Sure makes a well cared for Cape Dory seem like a real bargain to me. I just gave up dreaming a bought a nice 1982 CD27 that has made a permanent CD (or Robinhood) convert of me! Thanks for being around the message board!
