The pin (bronze) on my Cape Dory 25 has slipped a couple of times out to one side causing the tiller bracket to not be attached on one side. This is the pin toward the tip end. I've taken a hammer and put it back in place so that both sides of the bracket have the pin in the holes. As time goes on, I'm sure this will get looser and just tapping it back in place will not be a good solution.
Any ideas or suggestions on replacing this pin with a bolt and lock washer or maybe a pin with a head on one end and a hole for a clip on the other end?? Glue??

Re: CD25 Tiller Pin Loose
Max,
I believe that "pin" is (was) threaded on the other end. I suppose you could just put a longer bolt in with a self-locking nut on the other side. Another option is to replace the tiller cap & strap. I think the part number is T700SC from Spartan. This part number depends on the width of your tiller and diameter of your rudder post. The next size up is T745SC. Check with Spartan for sizes first if you do replace it.

Every CD owner should have a Spartan catalog (free!)
Spartan has free catalogs available. The link below will take you to their web site. There is an 800 number you can call for the catalog. Every CD owner should have a copy. Your tiller strap & cap and nearly every other bronze piece ever made is in there.
