Doing some refurbishing on old Typhoon Weekender (hull 263) and need to install ball valves or proper seacocks; the boat now has a scary-looking garden spigot/industrial black hose arrangement that I avoid touching. Was wondering what original equipment was.
Spartan catalogue lists 1-inch seacocks at $97 each (in typical Spartan fashion). Will call company and try to learn if this is the item. In the meantime, if anybody has successsfully replaced valves, I'd love to hear about it (space seems tight for seacocks I've seen).

Relacement seacocks or ball valves for Typhoon

Re: Relacement seacocks or ball valves for Typhoon
I just replaced all of the through hull fittings on my CD25. Other than one unit which was a nice bronze seacock which I left, I installed Grocco ball valves. They are nice units and are a fraction of the cost of a traditional seacock. (I needed 3 1.25" units & 1 .75" unit. The 1.25's cost about $40 each.) Since you are replacing old gate valves (good idea), ball valves require much less work than seacocks. Just grease them and screw them in place... I don't know what the Typhoon cockpit drain system looks like, but it was a little work doing the ones on the 25. The drains are not that far from the through hull, and once the ball valve is screwed on there is no room to put the hose on (not enough room to bend the heavy hose into place). I ended up putting new through hull's in and putting the whole assembly together as I bedded the new fittings. If it is really tight space wise you can save a little room by not using the 1.25" - 1.5" barbed pipe to hose adapter from the ball valve to the hose, as they are pretty long.
