A year ago or so I read on this sight of a company in the Northeast that you could send your sails to for a good cleaning and refurbishing. I tried the search engine but I must not be asking the right questions
After seven seasons on my Doyle sails, they need a stitch here and there [around the batten pockets, the furling ties etc.] and a good professional cleaning!
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to keep Osprey the best looking Ty in Hempstead Harbor.

Re: refurbish sails
Could it be Sailcare? They specialize in refurbishing sails. I sent them my sails last winter and they did a pretty good job. Not cheap though. www.sailcare.com

Re: refurbish sails
Jack,
You should be able to bring your sails to any local sailmaker. I don't know of any that don't provide repair or cleaning services for sails.

Re: refurbish sails
I used SailCare a few years ago and thought they did a fine job. They're in the business of cleaning and restoring sails. They won't put your sail cleaning behind other other more profitable projects. They'll also do any repairs to the sail where they discover it needs it. They sails will not be as good as new but they will be much stiffer than when you sent them in.
If you need more attentive care, such as cloth trimming or batten changes, take them to a sailmaker.

Re: refurbish sails
I have always cleaned sails myself. There are several posts on this board regarding the best ways to do it. After cleaning any good sailmaker can go over them and repair. I have done the whole job for $50.00 per sail.
