I removed the spreaders from the mast of my 1965 Typhoon. The spreaders are pipes that fit ( at the mast end) over a type of fitting I haven't encountered before. I can best describe it as two sleeves (one on each side of the mast)that fit over a length of all thread that goes through the mast. The all-thread goes through the mast and extends about 4" beyond the mast on each side. The sleeve over the all-thread extends about 3 1/4" beyond the mast on each side. The lower shroud tang is held captive between the sleeve and the mast. I want to remove the tang, but can not figure out how to remove the sleeve from the all thread. I am reluctant to try to muscle it off using channel locks since the sleeve appears to be soft aluminum. Any one been down this road before?
