Engine room soundproofing

Post by Armand DeLuca »

Over the last couple of seasons I have experienced sound-proofing panals coming loose from the overhead in the engine room on "Horizons", our 1988 CD 33 Poweryacht. The insulation panels are double thick and appear to have been originally cemented to the underside of the cabin sole. I have tried to recement, double-face tape, etc. but nothing provides a permanent fix. Any suggestions?

I used large stainless steel fender washers (about 1 1/2 diameter with a 1/4 inch hole) and 1 1/2 inch long stainless screws and spaced them about 10" apart both ways. Fixed the problem and it has held for three years and about 800 hours.
