I looked at several feathering props at the recent Pacific Expo Boat Show. Of all of them the Martec and Maxprop seem far superior to the rest. However-they both require at least 5" beyond the end of the shaft and had an overall length of 7 1/2". CDI seemed to have a pretty good design and it's only 5". Does anyone know if any or all of these will fit in the prop aperature? Does anyon have experience with the CDI feathering prop?

Be careful to check the clearance with the rudder fully deflected both sides. I recently had to abandon installing a drive-saver disk in the shaft coupling of my CD-27 because, although it extended the prop *only* 1" aft, that was enough to cause the blade tips to hit the rudder when fully deflected. (Fortunately I was out of the water and could check this thoroughly.) I'll try it again next year when I have time to pull the shaft and have it shortened a bit.Duane Yoslov wrote: I looked at several feathering props at the recent Pacific Expo Boat Show.
