Need Surveyor in Southern California

Anyone know of a reputable surveyor in southern california? I'm interested in a CD 30 and at the point where I'd like to have it checked out.

Are you a member of Boat U.S.? If not you should be. Call the Boat U.S. insurance people and talk to them. They have a list of reputable surveyors from all over the United States.

BoatUS is the carrier for our "new" 30, Slow Dance. However, please be advised that while they will accept a particular surveyor, they do not necessarily accept his/her recommendations. We purchased subject to survey, and acted accordingly when the surveyor suggested we needed to replace some of the swaged fittings "in a year or two; at next mast unstepping". After closing, BoatUS refused to cover it under sail until these fittings were replaced, which is a whole 'nother story.
I'd say use Boat US but purchase subject to coverage and underwriter's acceptance rather than just subject to survey, fwiw.

I financed my boat with B/US, and have insured her with them gladly. That part of their organization works exceedingly well..the store is not as well run however. I have tried hard to use their store, but honestly, they have always been higher than either Defender or JSI or PYacht. Try finding an alternator in their store. Can't..don't carry them. Their web site is hopeless, second to Defender even(!). If you can find the object of your affection, they do get it to you in good time, and accurately. But if price is not a problem regardless, I suspect West Marine is where you will go. Better selection by far, and better inventory I suspect.
Now this is my experience and prejudice, but subject to revision upon new information or experience...or the other guys being out of stock! heh...

Good sound advice from Joe and in addition be sure your surveyor is NAMS certified. As far as insurance goes, I have a bias toward West Marine insurance, I received a far better rate from West compared to Boat U.S.,. Better deductible, broader coverage area, lower premium for same coverage.
