Captain MacDonald,
Leo, how are the repairs going with HeatherAnns' shaft log? The bronze one I described to you, you may be able to get at Wilcox Marine in Mystic. But I'm not really sure were to get it. It was on Hanalei when we bought her. Hope it is going well.

Got back from the Chesapeake on 8 June (my second Friday in a row playing with NY traffic!) Found the Enginemen had FINALLY installed the V-drive & transmission, new cutlass bearing & AQ22 Stainless steel shaft on Heather Ann

Launched at 1000 hauled at noon

The good news is the operational tests of the electric and manual bilge pumps are completes - Sat. The electric bilge pump was pumping 8-10 seconds of each minute. The shaft log (hunk of fiberglass tube going forward from the hull, has the cutlass bearing in the aft end and the shaft seal installed at the forward end) LEAKS, approx. 1.5 gpm. The engine, transmission, V-drive and shaft have to come out and then the friendly fiberglass man will re-glass it. Next launch 1-2 weeks

For two days I have disconnected every support system to the engine. yesterday the Enginemen removed it and set it next to the boat. Around noon my friendly GRP Man (Nick - GOOD!) showed up to estimate the work.
Well, and this is the neat part, the Enginemen return and Engineman #2 says 'he has examined the shaft log and believes HE cut it when removing the cutlass.' AND then he tells the Nick to 'repair it top shelf and he will pay for it' !!!

It took me 3 hours to stop smiling.
Glass work was done today and the Enginemen will reinstall the engine, transmission, V-drive shaft and shaft seal tomorrow - maybe launch on the weekend

Less than a month to go for our NE Fleet events and Heather Ann has not yet had 'Sea Trials'! AND I have two crew coming from OK & GA to spend 2 weeks cruising with our Fleet!
So if I am less responsive then I should, the above could be a factor.
Fair Winds,
Leo

I can feel the warmth generated from your smile all the way to OK.......Your enginemen are indeed honorable gentlemen....Not even a fight.....What more could one ask for.....
Glad to hear the repairs are moving smartly along. It simply would not do for the Fleet Captain to seek a crew berth.
Wish I could be there to help, but alas creditors call....
