Port side bulk head

I am the owner of a Cape Dory 25(1977) for 4 years. When I first purchased the boat there was a gap in the bulkhead on the port side, where the partition between the aft "salon" and head. The gap is now about a fingers width. I have read that this is a common occurrence in this particular model. Does anyone know if this has an affect on the integrity or structure of the boat. I hate to see a post go un-answered, so I'll get the conversation started. Full disclosure, I sold my CD25 at least a decade ago. This is really not a bulkhead in the traditional meaning. It is not tabbed to the hull and is not structural. It's really a modesty panel. I know of at least two CD25s that have removed it and replaced it with a curtain. What is that rack in the bottom photo? Does it bear any weight? If so, that couId be the culprit. looks like it might fit a foldup salon table, but the CD25 came standard with a pedestal mounted table.
