Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

How to Build a Reinforced Boom

Post by John Stone »

I built a new boom for the Far Reach. I documented it in a two part video series on YouTube. Part two is now uploaded.

The videos detail how to fabricate and install a reinforcing bar, fabricate hardware, install backing plates, and there is extensive info on applying primer as well as applying Awlgrip using the brush and tip method.

Great work on the boom build! The details in your videos, especially on the Awlgrip application and reinforcing bar, are super helpful. I recently tackled a similar project and ran into some tricky parts with the hardware installation, especially getting everything aligned just right. Your tips on using the right tools really helped me out. I also found it helpful to browse for some deals online when gathering supplies. I came across Deals here (https://www.dealsandstealstoday.com/view-your-deal/ and picked up a few things at a great price. Just thought I’d share in case you're looking for some good deals too!

Stample. Thanks. No. Nothing particularly hard about any of it. Just what's on the video. There are a few more tips on the the mast refit video reinstalling hardware. Might be useful to you.

We are good on the coast. Others in western NC are not. Whole towns washed away. Others completely cut off. Just stunning....
