Hey Tom, hope you get some sailing in yet.
White oak is good stuff. I would be sure to get from the yard how they will be treating it as it will be in the bilge and how they recommend maintaining it. They could encase the who stringer in glass, epoxy or simply treat with preservative, so I would understand their concept for it and what that means for maintenance.

agree. if white oak was good enough for "old ironsides" it should serve you well in your engine room. a few coats of bilge coat should seal it nicely. a buddy of mine repowered his older catalina 30 with a beta and loves it.

Almost done with the repower. Had to drill new hru hull on starboard for raw water. Now wrestling with muffler location

Is that oak raw or was a sealer applied? The engine is a piece of art….

Can you post picture of back of mount?
Did you use lag screws or did you just get a longer bolt and tap into mild steel plate under the fiberglass?

Re: CD27 re-power to Beta
I am looking at a similar repower on my CD27 with a Beta 14 and am interested in how you laid out your exhaust system. Would appreciate any information you or others might be able to provide.
Thanks,
Pete
