Racor Fuel Filter

Post by Robert »

My Racor filter leaks. It leaks to the extent that it saturates a couple of paper towels in 7 - 10 days. I am trying to determine where it is leaking (from the feul line in or where the filter mates with the housing.) Has anybody had this problem before? Any thoughts on a resolution would be appreciated.

Thanks

Could be one of the following:

1) Pinched o-ring on one of the fittings.

2) Cracked plastic fitting.

3) Damaged filter seal.

4) If you have a clear inspection bowl it may be cracked where the threads are located where it mates to the filter.

5) Loose fitting (caution - it is very easy to crack one of the white plastic fittings by overtightening).

It's a good idea to have a spares kit for a Racor, especially replacement fittings for the white plastic drain and vents, including the o-rings.
