Overnight to Long Island and the iSailGPS app

Post by keneasley »

Just an overnight from Southport, CT to Northport, NY.
An autumn-like day and 15-20 knots of northwest wind made for wonderful sailing.

I saved some apple table screen shots from the iSailGPS app that I use for navigation in case anyone is interested.
The app allows one to zoom in on a standard chart and see the details.
The red line is my actual route and the blue line is the course that I plotted.

The app captures speed and direction as well.
It uses GPS for speed so it can be off at times but it does capture the average speed and total distance pretty accurately
28.73 nmiles at 4.9 knots average.

You are correct, it was wonderful sailing weather. I sailed from Noank to Block Island the same day. I experienced WNW winds from 12 to 18 knots. I had the tide with me so it was choppy but three feet at most in Block Island Sound.
