Hi,
Since I need to go loose footed to have the Sail Pack I will need to remove the slugs from the foot and go loose. I plan on an outhaul slide on the clew. Any other suggestions? How long will that 40 year old sail last? I plan on replacing next year! One more season, I hope! Spring sailboat show is in April in Annapolis. Im going shopping.
Peace

Unless the boat was only sailed in mild winds exclusively at night, after forty years you are now the proud owner of a drop cloth
The standard sailmakers test of sail cloth structural integrity is to try to puncture the cloth with a sharp lead pencil. Additionally, they test the stitching’s integrity with a blunt fid.

yeah ... I'd say your sail is likely already loose footed; tack and leech too ...
