walk around the entire deck and cockpit. listen carefully for any creaks or cracks. it should be solid as as rock. also notice any softness or flexing. any problems should raise flags with the purchase.

Definitely plan on re-bedding all deck hardware since the bedding material from the factory has dried out. Also I discovered that the factory used a minimal amount of bedding compound leaving leaks to the core under several fittings. Also check the backing plates for the chain-plates - They only used washers and I replaced them with aluminum bars. Definitely count on replacing the cockpit drain hoses and valves before doing any serious sailing. Gaining access to the aft cleat(s) for removal is not easy - I had a friend with long arms and a long box wrench to remove and reinstall them.
