Orion launched on 4/14/23

Orion finally hit the water on 4/14, had to wait a week for the yards travel lift while repairs and upgrades were underway. Took a few days to bend the sails on due to challenging early season weather. Commissioning has gone well other than a compromised gasket on my hot water heater. I will have a replacement in hand Monday morning. I decided to replace the heating element at the same since it must be removed to replace the gaskets. I installed this Isotherm water heater back in 2012 so I have no complaints…just glad it happened at my slip. Perhaps I can get out for a sail this week…it’s been a long winter.

I’m prepping for another run to Bermuda at the end of this month. Fingers crossed. The Marion to Bermuda Race starts on June 16th. It would be nice to see John Ring and the infamous crew from Tiara once again. Looking forward to the opportunity to put my asymmetrical to use where only the dolphins can giggle as I go through the learning process…
