First Trip of the Season

Post by Clay Stalker »

I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 0800 hours for my first voyage in my "new" CD 27. I will be sailing from Kittery Point, Maine to Warwick, Rhode Island, approximately 165 nm. Possible stops are planned in Gloucester, Mass; Scituate, Mass; Provincetown, Mass; Mattapoisett, Mass; Cuttyhunk, Mass; Newport, R.I.; and finally to my berth for the season @ Apponaug Harbor Marina in Warwick, R.I. I purchased this boat in December, 2000 and have added a new North 135 genoa, Harken 0 furler, and some minor upgrades. I've never sailed the boat before, so this will be a first for me in a Cape Dory...kinda excited, but the weather looks a bit touchy....cold, cloudy, windy, and some rain. Anyway, hope to arrive at Apponaug sometime over the weekend. Sailing with a friend...should be interesting. Anyway, thought I would pass this along....will let the fine readers of this board know when and if I make it and my impressions of the boat (like you don't already know).

Clay,

I think you are right about the weather. It's gonna be cold out there with that low backing up from Nova Scotia. Good luck and stay warm.

Clay,
Go for it! Salsa won't disappoint you! Just make sure you have your safety gear rigged because it may get a little bumpy out there and also keep warm. Tell us how it went when you get in.
