CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?

CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
Parfait is missing her stove/oven countertop and I am wondering if she ever had one. I suppose so, but an inquiry to her former owner has brought no repsonse thus far; they are probably enjoying their Grand Banks on the Gulf.
Can someone please tell me what the original cover was? It seems as if ply with the appropriate laminate and some teak trim would be right, but maybe someone can tell me for certain? Has anyone done anything different?
Thanks,
Ken

Our CD36 came with a stove cover, Its a laminate on the top and stainless steel on the underside. The front and sides are trimed with teak. Our CD was built in l989, so it may have been an addition. If you need a photo or measurements I could send them to you.

Re: CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
Whisper, built in Summer 1982, came with a stove cover made of plywood, covered on top with formica to match the countertop and lined on the bottom with a sheet of stainless steel. Front and sides are trimmed with strips of teak, with the front teak extending above the cover surface to form a fiddle. There was a small teak latch screwed to the underside at the front center, but it broke off. It was designed to latch under the fiddle rail of the original alcohol stove.

Re: CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
Ken,
My boat has the same cover as previously described. There should be a couple of guide rails behind the stove. When the cover is to be removed you simply tilt it up and let it slide down behind the stove. The rails are at an angle of somehting like 45 degrees. Above that the stove will contact the cover. At roll angles like that you do not want to be cooking anyway, it is time to lock the stove down and eat peanut butter sandwiches.

Re: CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
Vonnie,
Thanks very much for offering a photo and measurements. I thought I could figure it with all the help given thus far, but I haven't quite figured out how deep the cover is. Width is obvious, thickness is obvious, but how much of the 21 stove top is covered? The tracks behind the stove are only about 17 inches long. Maybe a photo and dimensions would help.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
The cover when in the covering position extends almost to the grab rail. When in the open position it sticks up in the air about 8"Ken Coit wrote: Vonnie,

Re: CD-36 Stove/Oven Cover?
Jerry,
Thanks very much for that info. I have just taken a look at the photo from the NQ article and see that it does fit tightly to the outboard end of the range cutout and come inboard to what appears to be flush with the front of the range.
The Robinhood 36 article has two photos with the cover open. It does look to be about 8 inches high (see image above).
I'm not sure I like the aesthetics of the open position, but maybe there is something to be said for reflecting some of the heat away from the trunk and curtain if one is fitted above the range.
Thanks,
Ken
