CD14

Post by Pinch »

Hello,
I am new to this forum and very glad to have found it.

I want to start sailing again and I'm looking at a Cape Dory 14. We live near a small lake with a boat ramp and I'm wondering how easy it is to use the CD14 as a trailerable boat? I see it is an unstayed mast but Is it a one man operation?

Thank you

The CD14 is very easy to launch and rig. It has a sliding Gunter rig, which allows all of the spars to fit inside the boat. So the mast is a 2" section that is less tan 14' and very easily stepped by one person. The real beauty of the Whitehall design is how well it rows. It glides through the water with a pair of longer sweeps.

They are great boats, Steve.

Thank you Steve. How do they sail? How is the stability for a CB daysailer?

I never found it to be extremely tippy but I haven't sailed mine very much and not for a long time.
