Shaft length for Typhoon Open Cockpit Daysailer
Hello - new owner. Will a short shaft (15") outboard work with the Typhoon, or will I need to go with a long shaft (20")?

Re: Shaft length for Typhoon Open Cockpit Daysailer
Congratulations on your new Typhoon!
I have a Typhoon Weekender, not a Daysailor, but the hulls are the same. I need a 20" shaft with the bronze deck-mounted Spartan outboard bracket.
Check out this thread for a photo of a 20" shaft outboard on my Typhoon: http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38408
The only way I can imagine you could get away with a 15" shaft is to use one of those retracting brackets bolted to the transom.
Smooth sailing,
Jim

I have a Daysailer, but the cuddy not the open version. With the Spartan bracket 20" works well except if I am standing on the bow.
