Mini-cruise around Isle Au Haut Bay, Maine aboard Arietta

Post by wikakaru »

I got to take a little 3-day mini-cruise around East Penobscot Bay/Isle Au Haut Bay aboard our CD22 Arietta last week. I thought y'all might enjoy some of the photos. Smooth sailing! --Jim

Sorry to be so late catching up to this one. My wife and I are planning a very similar cruise next summer, except in a different order. We start in Carver Cove, go through the narrow passage of Merchants Row (just like you did), but then we're going to Burnt Coat (for diesel). From Burnt Coat, we're going through Isle Au Hau Thorofare and back up to Pulpit Harbor. I chose Pulpit because the next day we are doing a straight shot to Port Clyde on our way home to Poorhouse Cove. There are advantages to a CD28 Cruiser. You can cover a lot of ground if you choose to.

I think you will find Burnt Coat a much better protected harbor than Hell's Half Acre where we stayed on that trip. We've been to Burnt Coat many times and enjoyed it there. Let me know before you start your cruise and maybe I can sail out and take some photos as you go by.

Smooth sailing,

Jim
