Anyone ever use Star Brite Black Streak Remover?

Because the FR does not have a toe rail or rub rail all the water runs off the deck and down the top sides. It does not take long to get black streaks. The run way at MCAS Cherry Point is about 500 yards away. We get a lot of air traffic in our area--AV8 B Harriers, F35s, KC130s, CH 53s (referred to a Sh$#trees partly for all the jet exhaust smoke they put out) etc. I think the streaks just come from particulates in the air settling on the deck then streaking the hull when the rain washing it over the rail. I have see it pretty much everywhere but it seems worse here.

From the water(like a small work raft or dinghy) I can wash it off with AwlWash fairly easily if the Awlcare polimizer is in good shape. But the slip we are end prevents me from easily getting the dinghy up to the boat. And our marina work raft finally gave up the ghost.

I ran across the Star Brite Black Streak Remover the other day and wondered if anyone has used it? Any feed back? I have Awlgrip instead of gel coat finish so I have to consider that before I try it out.

I keep a bottle on the boat and I’ve used it a few times. I think it works well but I don’t know if it’s removing the wax at the same time. It certainly is effective on those mysterious black scuff marks which only occur when you are not on board…..

Just got the gel version, this was the rust stain remover, to try on a dark greasy stain on the bow of our boat. I had tried a bunch of stuff, Soft Scrub, go jo, paint thinner and some other bleach, polishing compound. Star Brite wiped it right off, no scrubbing, it also cleans rust off stainless. I looked at the ingredients of a bunch of their products and they all contained the same thing. This one is a little different. If it works as well it is worth keeping on the boat.

You’d be surprised how well boat soap works when you use it full strength. Get a sponge wet, pour some boat soap (or dishwashing liquid) directly on the sponge, and try it on an offending spot. Then give it a good dousing. Anyway, it’s worth a try.

Never tried it full strength, I know it is kind of wimpy mixed in water.
