Has anyone re-powered a CD 27, originally fitted with a YsM8, with a 1GM10. Any wisdom on the aft mounts, which are higher than the forward mounts, would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if a 1GM 10 can be fit to the old YSM mounts ...
I put a Beta 14 in my 27. It fit on the original "forward" YSM 8 mounts with about 2" build up with glassed G10. You have some adjustability with the Beta stock mounts, so there is no absolutely correct bed height relative to the shaft centerline, but you do not want to extend the mounts to their limit. Keeping the old YSM engine pan was a good thing for my boat. A catchment pan is a good diagnostic tool as well as effective for keeping the bilge clean.
