CD 36 Prop Size

Post by Michael Ellis »

We have just purchased a Robinhood 36 and the surveyor recommends replacing the prop. Current prop is 15x14 RH 3 Blade. The engine is a 38 HP Yanmar 3JH2E with a Kanzaki KM35A transmission. What prop configuration do other CD 36 owners have, and are there any recommendations?

Re: CD 36 Prop Size - MaxProp

It was a tight fit, but I put a MaxProp on my CD36. The boat sails a little faster, and reverse thrust is improved over the original fixed 3 blade.
The key to fitting an older MaxProp is getting the length of the prop shaft exactly right. Newer offerings from MaxProp might be shorter in their overall length which would make fitting much easier.
