roller furler for Typhoon

Post by clarsenjr »

We just purchased a Typhoon and feel we must rig for cockpit sailing only !

Best roller furler for Typhoon weekender brand / model/ cost ?

Any advise will be helpful regarding other items / cost to be considered.

Thanks

We sail our TY on Lake Champlain and have found the CDI furler to be trouble free and reliable. It is an older version, so I can't speak to recent models, but am aware of no concerns. I single-hand much of the time, and absolutely appreciate the POs decision to install the furler - for me, I have learned it means more time on the water.

Enjoy!

I installed a CDI (Model no. FF2) for a Typhoon six years ago and it has been very trouble free. It was
$610 with some options (about $100), plus another $100 or so for the furling line and some deck hardware (fairleads and one bronze cleat) to lead the line back to the cockpit. Rinse it with fresh water frequently.

I sail my 1976 Typhoon on Lake George (previously on Lake Champlain) and installed the CDI FF1 roller furler. It has been really good and never fails over the ten years I have had it. I furl the main then sail into the dock with the genny - furling it as I get closer then momentum takes over - I do mostly single handed sailing. I bought it from Rigging Only - best price and excellent service.
