Finding a hull number.

Post by Wilson »

Took a donation of a pre-1972 Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender, no 12 digit hull number on the stern. There is no hull number stamped into a brass plated fixed to the cockpit transom either. Is there anywhere else Cape Dory would put a hull number on a boat of this age? Thanks, Mark

I would try looking in and around the cockpit lockers. Numbers were printed there on our Typhoon and the date on our 33.

The hull number for our CD32 is also in a cockpit lazarette. But you have to look up. It's on the hull in the area behind the coaming. On our boat this is well above the batteries.
