Cd 28 bulkheads
Bottom of my bulkheads are soft and I’m assuming the bulkheads are structurally supporting the mast? I’m also assuming this is a huge job to replace Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated it’s a 1975 cd 28

Re: Cd 28 bulkheads
Can you provide some more info/pictures?
-Which bulkheads?
-More than one bulkhead?
-How did you determine they are soft?
-How far does it extend?
-How is the bottom edge of the bulkhead secured to the hull?
I had a soft bulkhead and I repaired it. But it all depends on the nature and the extent of the damage.
Sometime you can do an overlay or scarf in a new section or inlay a new piece or had additional support. Does not have to be a horribly difficult repair. Just depends.
So more info....

Hi and thanks, will be adding pictures soon hopefully … it’s the aft bulkheads of the head and locker both bottom edges that are touching the sole and it’s rotted about 8-10 inches up… I assumed that all bulkheads were tabbed in to hull but it doesn’t appear so on these bulkheads?

Sounds a little like what I faced. Post pictures. Make a sketch if you can.
