That's a pretty broad question, but if you're just looking for something to keep your fingers warm, I'm going to suggest a pair of insulated leather work gloves. You can probably find them at any hardware store (Ace, etc.). They're surprisingly warm, even when wet, pretty comfortable, and they last forever. Something like this is what I mean.
Until COVID put my whole office into work-from-home, I commuted to work by bike and I wore a pair of these on everything but the coldest days.
Suggestions for winter gloves.

Mittens keep your hands warmer, mittens over gloves even more so.
We don't do any winter sailing but on the boat we have diving gloves for cool and wet days.

Last time I worked outside in the cold was 1982. I was a locksmith apprentice / door mechanic and found myself taking gloves on and off to get stuff accomplished. Suggestions?

I don’t know that I’d consider MD and VA up north but if you are looking for some cold weather work gloves I’d try Hamilton Marine up in Maine.

They are a big supplier of Maine lobster me and fishermen many of whom work year round. They have large variety gloves many of which are water proof or water resistant. I have several pairs of an orange knit glover with a rubberized coating on the fingers and palm that at times is actually too warm. I’ll try to find the specific glove. It’s cheap also.
Edit pretty sure this is 5he one.

I kept my boat in the water this year and the thing I quickly found out about gloves is to bring three or four pairs ... they get wet and switching to a dry pair is the trick ... even my goretex pair gets wet ... they dont have to be the most amazing gloves in the world ... just dry ...
