First glimpse of my E-Motion Rudder Drive

Post by Jim Walsh »

This new drive system was discussed a few days ago with a couple “friends” from the boatyard.

In my absence they felt the need to add a mock-up to my rudder and texted me a photo of their handiwork. Clearly idle hands are the devil’s workshop. :?

I think you're on to something, there, Jim. Figure out how to support a short shaft inside the rudder with
bearings, add a universal joint between the prop shaft and rudder and then you could star in a "shark tank" episode.
Good luck- Jean

It's clear that I missed some fun.

You are going to have to replace any extra fuel jugs with at least a half a dozen big batteries, lashed to the rail, for your next Bermuda trip.

Now you will be able to have a slip that isn't all the way out at the end of the docks and you could back right in.

I do hope your new installation isn't the cheap version with the fixed blade propeller, Steve.
