CHANGED MY MIND! AFTER SHOWING THE BOAT TO MANY THAT DO NOT UNDERSTAND OR APPRECIATE THE CAPE DORY, I HAVE DECICED TO TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET AND DO SOME MORE WORK ON IT AND HAVE SOME MORE FUN.
Wonderful Cape Dory 28' sailboat. $12875. Innisfree has been around the Chesapeake since she was new, and has a great reputation as a solid boat built to handle anything. She has a volvo penta 12 hp diesel
(MD7A), and has been well cared for. Newer cushions for the cockpit, staysail, autopilot, roller furling, hot water heater, double water tanks, full cover for winter and more! At one time there was a company that made bronze ones. I don't know if they still do. Ours is plastic also. Dennis

Thanks Dennis. the reason I asked is because I sent my worm drive steering gear in I decided to strip and varnish the wood console. Maybe I can find a way to paint the plaque it so it looks better

Search our site for builders plate. I seem to recall one of our members making some? KAYLA came with the plastic plate, but I replaced it about 18 years ago with a bronze one. Just don't remember who/where I got it from.

Perhaps these folks will do a small job. Give them a call and explain you have an original from which they can make a mold. Many of the large foundries will do small individual castings when they have a large pour scheduled so as not to waste unused molten metal. If unable to accommodate your request they may be able to offer a referral.

I found several places nearby. Ill get one to make it. Also I think I’ll have a name plate fit in the recess on the teak piece

Mine came with the boat. took about a gallon of brass/bronze cleaner to get it looking that great.
