So I was lectured on this site about how the newer more modern flat bottom fin keel boats sailed better and had a more comfortable sea motion because they sailed upright. The Cape Dory was an out of date design that had a very uncomfortable sea motion for most people. They went on that a boat should not heel more that 15 degrees because it slows you down and you only feel like you are going faster. and more bla bla bla. This is all in good fun but take a look at pictures of their boats. If I still posted on that site I would but I thought it was quite funny how flat these flat bottom fin keels sailed in a blow.

I have gotten my rail in the water only once on our CD30. I may be wrong, and I have been but most of these boats look to be a tad over 15 degrees. Dennis
