Hi fellow Northeast Fleet Cape Dory sailors, It is time to renew your 2021 membership in our organization. This evening I have filled 140 envelopes to remind you to send in your renewal.
This, oddly, gave me time to think about what "Cape Dory yachts" really have meant to me. My first "Cape Dory", was a CD Typhoon on Lake Sunapee, in New Hampshire. The very first sail provided some gusty winds that sent most sail boats to their beams. Not on my typhoon, she just put her bow to the wind and said "not me"!! I am a Cape Dory. Carl Alberg knew how to build a yacht. My 5th Cape Dory, a CD36, is NO different.
I have met so amazing people thru my years with Cape Dory. Org. Brian and Debbie Carrol on Solmar, Dave Bradbury and his daughter Christina, Jim Walsh, Don and Pat Wass, Steve Laume and his amazing sailing around New Foundland, Canada, Leo and Ruth McDonald, with their post meetings in their home., John Ring, Cathy Monaghan and Bruce Halley, Dave Perry (he actually sold me an over priced CD.) Andy Vavolotis, at a Cabin Fever meeting in Portsmouth, N.H., most of the post commodore's at different meetings, and of course Bob and Susan LaCelles. , and so many more. It is the people that I have met through our organization that have really meant so much to me.
Our Cape Dory Northeast Fleet is made up of a strong group of people that care about our Cape Dory yachts, and or interests, that all want our organization to continue.,
It is time to renew your contribution to our great organization. When you receive your letter, please send in your renewal before December 31, 2020. Thank you, Doug Jesseman.

Re: Cape Dory Northeast Fleet
Thanks for your effort on our behalf Doug ... !
P.S. ... I went out today into the tail end of the fierce wind that blew up the east coast yesterday. Wow - I thought the wind had dropped (and it had - last night was easily a full gale on Narragansett) but was still force 6 with some blasts mixed in. I just flew my working jib and confirmed I can make good progress to windward in such conditions . I need a third reef in my main. Tough little boats.
