I put this Isotherm cold plate version in my boat ...

The coil/thru hull is brilliant and saves power.

Also see Jim Walsh’s extensive thread on a similar unit ...

Well, I went ahead and did it, and I'm not sorry one bit! :D It was my best Halloween to date.

We arrived at the boat yard around 0930 hrs and proceeded to wait for the crew to put the little beauty in the water.
She hit the water and looked fantastic! For me, it all came down to the engine and whether it ran well or not.

After being on the hard for the past year, she easily started right up on the first try. Our forward and reverse test at the
dock proved to go very well. Paper was exchanged and handshakes and pictures taken.

We had to shove off so the crew could keep working. Off to downtown Chicago we went!

Through the Chicago Lock...

and downstream to JuJu's winter home...

Thanks much, Jim!

Thanks for providing a pic, appletim1. Curious what boat this pic is of? That collar looks pretty big. It doesn't have a noticeable effect on forward or reverse power and handling?

I'm curious of the pros and cons of the nut zinc vs. collar zinc. Anyone have a pic of the nut zinc installed?

Thanks for the additional information, Fred. While water-cooled does seem more efficient than the air, would it matter much in a midwest climate? My only hesitations at this point would be, having to drill another hole in the hull and the price. I still have more research to do to figure this all out.

That being said, first things first... winterization. Are there any good threads for a winterization/how-to list around here?

Once all of that is out of the way, I'll be able to focus on the addition of the shore power. The boat already has the Marinco 125 volt 30 amp inlet install in the cockpit. It would be great to have a solid Cape Dory resource for this job too, so please pass anything along which you feel fits the bill.

Thanks again all!
