I have a dodger on my new to me CD25D. I would like to add a Bimini but will need the hardware to support it and the Bimini itself. The Sunbrella material shouldn’t be a problem because I use a upholsterer that I’m sure can do the work, but the SS hoop and the hardware to attach it to the existing dodger will be more of a challenge.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I installed a Bimini on my 25 d years ago and it works very well in Texas summers. First I raised the boom 6” to provide more headroom, not standing but enough to get in and out of the cockpit. Made a frame from galvanized electrical conduit to get the fit and then measured for a canvas shop to fabricate with 1” stainless.
I will see if I still have the measurements and take a few pics next time I am out.

I just returned with my “new to me” CD25D from Lk Superior to the Texas gulf coast arriving yesterday afternoon. I’m glad to get that trip behind me and look forward to getting my boat in the water, rigged and sailing.
I’m hiring a rigger for the initial rigging because the marina will only put the boat in the water and provide the crane for stepping the mast.
I will ask the rigger for their opinion of rigging the boom and hardware for the best way to raise the boom for bimini clearance.
I’m looking forward to your pics of the bimini.

An easier way to raise the boom for Bimini clearance might be to just have the sail recut to raise the clew high enough to provide the clearance and leave the gooseneck in its original location. On our 27 we only had to shorten the sail by 10" at the leech, the foot and the luff dimensions were not changed. This will, of course, depend on how high your Bimini is.

Tim, question ...
If you recut a main sail to raise the clew, don’t you also need to do the same for the reefing clew cringles ... ie “move them up” along the luff by the same amount ? And maybe even the reefing points (even though many claim they serve no purpose) .
Otherwise the boom when reefed would just assume it’s former OEM position under reefed main ?
