I am replacing and upgrading the battery cables to 1/0 cable on my 30B with the Universal M18 diesel. I have already addressed other well known wiring harness problems found on the Universals.
For anyone who has done this project, did you run the new cables through the same route as the originals, or did you change the path that the new cables take from the batteries to the battery selector switch and then the common power cable that goes from the selector switch to the starter?
Thanks!

Re: CD30B New Battery Cables
I rerouted the new battery cables from both batteries to the battery selector switch. Using an 1 1/2” hole saw, I drilled through the bulkhead in the forward end of the port locker, then made the necessary additional holes to run the cables through the galley cabinets over to the switch/circuit breaker panel which I replaced about 4 or 5 years ago. I still have a full day of adding wire ties and strain relief for the new cables, but on a test start yesterday, the Universal M18 fired right off.
I really think replacing those original 4 gauge wires with new, properly crimped with heat shrinked 1/0 is going to make a big difference.
