My sailing has not changed at all due to COVID-19. It has been impacted by another four letter word: WORK.

COVID-19 affected me in two ways: (1) I purchased the boat from the previous owner in the Mid-West, so had to wait a couple of months to have it transported due to various state shutdown restrictions and (2) I knew it needed some repair work when I bought it (and adjusted the price accordingly) but what I didn't know was how long it was going to be to wait until the yard could do the repair work until they got caught up on the backlogged work due to COVID-19. Another yard owner told me candidly that he suspected some of his staff weren't coming in due to the stimulus payments, but I doubt that would be the case for the higher-paid staff like the mechanics.
I put on a mask when I first arrive at the Club in case someone gets closer than 6-feet while I'm hauling stuff to my dinghy, but don't need it again until I return the dinghy unless I have a guest. Sailing is a great way to socially isolate and still have lots of fun

Our home is in Oregon, our boat is in British Columbia. We are not allowed to cross the border, and have done zero sailing. We also have an unvisited cottage in BC. If you want to know what we think about the way our government has handled this pandemic, just ask. You probably don’t want to hear what our Canadian friends have to say; it’s too embarrassing.
