CD300MS refit

Post by CD30MS »

I’m currently refitting hull 032 (‘87) in Wilmington, NC

What a great boat. I’ve always loved the MS but once I’ve torn into her I’ve realized how great of a boat she really is.

Total interior refinish
New 4D AGMs
New Charger/ Inverter
New head/ faucets
New motor mounts/ hoses/ gaskets
Shaft out/ cleaned & straightened
New PSS shaft seal & new cutlass bearing
All new running rigging/ some standing rigging
New Bimini
And a whole lot more.

Hoping to splash in Sept for a fall cruise to outer Banks.

Thanks for a great forum,
Logan

Nice work. Big commitment but well worth it in the end. It takes real talent to arrive at the results shown so far. Good luck.

Yes, looks like you're really getting into it- nice job. Those 300MS boats are pretty neat- I went aboard one a couple
of years ago in Red Brook harbor. Best of luck to you - Jean

Good job. You’ll never know a boat better than the one you rebuild.

Nice work Logan. I’m the caretaker of hull#18 ex-pelican, now Heart. Of Gold. I’ve done most of what you went through with the exception of the interior refit. New shaft, cutlass bearing, motor mounts, partial engine rebuild with new pumps, oil seals, hoses, glow plugs and injectors. New dc electrical system from batteries to panel, removed holding tank and head and replaced with composting toilet. Installing dinghy davits at the moment. Other minor upgrades.

Love the work you did on the settee cushions and floor. Both are on my to do list. How long have you had the boat? We’re located on the Chesapeake just outside Baltimore.

Love the MS300!

Logan, I can’t recall three MS 300 owners in the same thread in the 15-16 years I have been a member of the CDSOA so I had to chime in. Welcome to the somewhat exclusive club. The MS 300 is not a racer but it’s a very comfortable boat. Nothing like that pilot house when I’m bringing her down from Rockport ME to Boothbay Harbor in mid May and the temps are dipping into the 40’s.

Good luck with your restoration.

Joe

Hi Joe, My husband (tcox ... who can't get into the forum) and I are scratching our heads about how to extend shade from the pilot house over the cockpit. We like the look of the picture you posted. We are exploring options for new-to-us 300MS and would love to know more about yours.
On another front, we haven't found a fuel gauge yet. Any advice?

Nice work on the refit.

Did the propeller puller shown in your picture work?
I tried a similar one on my prop but it wouldn't budge.

And I tried a homemade one (see picture) but it failed also.
Different boat, different prop but just curious as to how it worked.
