Need to replace prop zinc.... as there is NOTHING there I have nothing to compare. I picked up a "Prop Nut" at the yard it fits as the "nut" end slides over the "nut" behind the prop......It did not come with a screw to hold it on at the end. Clearly there is a threaded hole, does anyone know what size screw holds it in place and what type should it be?

Re: Prop Zincs
Michael,
I could be wrong, but I think if memory serves me right, that it is a 1/4-20 stainless steel machine screw. It is about 1 to 1 1/2" long. Don't forget to put an external "star" lockwasher on the bolt before you drive it home. Also, tap the end of the zinc with a hammer to be sure it is fully seated. I coat the threads with Lifecaulk to give a little extra assurance that the screw will not back out.

Re: Prop Zincs
Assuming you have the type of zinc sold by West Marine, the screw is 5/16 inch diameter, course thread, 1 inch long, with a (round) socket head. A 1 1/4 inch screw will work too. The stock screw is black (material?) and comes with a dried blob of something on the threads to keep it tight. Ace Hardware here has SS and steel screws that fit. I don't see any problem with SS.

Re: Yes, if....
Michael,
If you are using an Electro-Guard prop nut zinc (sold at West Marine), it is supplied with a stainless steel screw and the mentioned star lock washer. So, no, it won't cause a problem. See the response above mine for the possible right size screw, now that I think of it, 1/4-20 seems a little small. 'Course ya could go to West Marine and grab a zinc like what ya have and check the size of the screw there.
Hope ya go in soon, and easy....
