CD27 swim ladder

Post by csoule13 »

A happier task to work towards, now that the wasps might be cooked inside the boat and the great furler debacle of 2020 is almost resolved. After having to be hauled back on to my own boat like a hooked tuna last year while learning the short comings of a rope ladder, it's time to put something more forgiving on the boat. Given the angle of the transom on the boats, I assume folks are particular about what's worked and what hasn't on their boats. Any tricks on installation also appreciated.

Thanks as always

Here are a few things to think about:
http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic ... ing+ladder

https://nautos-usa.com/products/flushmo ... QZEALw_wcB

I am thinking of getting one of the Nautos ladders for my slip. We had a guy fall overboard at his slip and we could not get up onto the dock, they found his body the next morning floating near his slip. There are no ladders at any of our docks and the boat ramp is a long distance from his slip.

Our 27 Slainte, has the rear boarding ladder and I am not fond of that arrangement.
The pushpin still has to be climbed over when you finally get to the top of the ladder.
I had a hard time using the ladder in calm waters, I cannot imagine trying to rebound at the transom in rough conditions. I would mount a ladder on the side.

When I installed the Monitor wind vane on Orion I had to remove my original stern boarding ladder. I now have a removable ladder which latches on to my starboard side at my boarding gate. In case of emergency I have the ladder described in the attachment.

I installed the stern boarding ladder ( from a CD 33) needs minor modification of support struts. Am considering making a fold out of the way, hinged gate in the pushpit so I don't have to climb over the rail. Still thinking....

Do you know which removable ladder? That set up seems ideal for what I'm looking for.
