25D Hull Weak Spot

I am looking to purchase a 1982, 25D (Hull # 38) in Annapolis. The boat is named “Hunky Dory” from Greenwich, CT. During the Survey, the surveyor found what he believes to be a soft spot in the Hull. The indication was that he could depress the hull with the butt end of a hammer, by applying moderate pressure. There are a few cracks in the gelcoat leading to the area, but a moister test indicated that there was no water intrusion. The cracks were in my estimation minor, and may have been caused by improper blocking in a yard at some point in its life. The spot can be located by on the starboard side by drawing a vertical line from the most forward part of the cockpit, down to about 1.5 feet below the waterline. A fiberglass mechanic tells me he could strengthen the area, but also said the boat would sail for another 20 years by doing noting. Any ideas?

Take a hammer with a plastic head & tap the hull in an area much larger than the suspect spot & see if it sounds different. If you can get to the inside of the hull in this area it would be the best place to examine the fiberglass for cracks. IT DOESN'T SOUND CRITICAL
