So on my cd27 the new cutlass went in and actually turned inside the shaftlog...

It is a 1-1/4" outside. Has anyone ever honed out their shaft log and installed a 1-3/16 O.D. bearing?

Re: Cutlass bearing spinning?
Well, the cutless bearing is not supposed to slip in to the shaft log that easily. It
should be a light press fit. And, there should have been set screws to help secure it.
Rather than go up to the next size (1-3/8" outside dia.), I would try waxing the original
1-1/4 in. bearing and coating it with thickened epoxy, then removing the bearing
after the epoxy has set. That should give you a better fit. If there are no tapped holes for
set screws, you'll have to make some. - Jean
